Destined for a career in steeplechasing and after three years of failed attempts, it became obvious that racing was not Billy's forte! The Varleys did the most fantastic job re-training him and paving the way for his new vocation as an eventer.

With Lucy heading off to university, she would no longer have the time to further his education and one of Jodie's most long-standing owners Nicky Coates came on board to help purchase Billy. In a very short space of time, they have upgraded to Intermediate level with ease and although the dressage is still a working progress, Billy's exceptional jump and class across country are undeniable.

After four seasons together, progressing up to Adavanced and CCI4* level with so many fantastic adventures together, it was decided to give Billy a slightly easier life competing at a lower level as Jodie felt the pressures and atmosphere at the top of the sport were too much for him to take. Jodie's horses well being is always her number one priority and having given her and Nicky so much pleasure along the way, it was their time to return the favour and he is now enjoying the most wonderful life with his new rider!
